Quest’anno il mio progetto è imparare le basi della pittura giapponese ad inchiostro per rendere più essenziali ed immediato i miei schizzi dal vero. Saranno quindi 100 giorni di sumi-e. Mi sono ispirata ai grandi maestri Giapponesi di calligrafia, illustrazione ed incisione.

Nato nel 2008 dall’idea delle artiste statunitensi Louisa Barkalow and Ann Russ, dal 2014 il movimento si è trasformato da un fenomeno locale di Midwest ad una comunità internazionale. L’idea è semplice: scegli un progetto creativo e dedicaci almeno 15 minuti al giorno per 100 giorni. La community on line è numerosissima. Basta cercare sui social networks #The100DayProject.

What is the 100 day project?

#The100DayProject is a free, global art project that takes place online. Every year, thousands of people all around the world commit to 100 days of creating. Anyone can participate.

The idea is simple: choose a creative project, do it every single day for 100 days, and share your process on your social accounts using the hashtag #The100DayProject. In 2024 The 100 Day Project started 18^th February.

Headline of the 100 day project 2024

The seeds of The100DayProject began in 2008 at an artist retreat near Traverse City, Michigan. The 5-day retreat was co-lead by artists Louisa Barkalow and Ann Russ. Participants were invited to hang a simple piece of artwork they made each day on a piece of twine strung across a doorway at the retreat house. The purpose of this simple, warm-up exercise was to get the creative juices flowing.

In 2012, Ann Russ approached Tiina Harris, Director of the Marquette Arts & Culture Center (MACC) about having a 100 day project exhibit at the gallery there. In October 2013, an exhibit “The100DayProject: The Art of Practice and the Practice of Art” was installed in the MACC gallery and generated significant interest.

Since January 2014, 100 day projects have launched annually. Ann continues to support it as volunteer co-organizer. The 100DayProject has since spread beyond its Midwest roots and is now a global phenomenon.

One week 100 people was the first occasion to use the new media in the sketching. The 100 people of this year are inspired to Japanese ink painting sumi-e. I tried to keep only the essential parts of every portrait.

Despite complicated internal situation I was back home to Moscow to sketch my native city. So it became Moscow urban sketching tour of 4-16 April when I tried to use the sumi-e srokes for city skethes.

В этом году я решила освоить основы японской живописи чернилами суми-э, чтобы потом использовать их в моих зарисовках. Убрав все лишнее этюды должны стать более свежими. Добро пожаловать в 100 дней японскими чернилами.

Так что же такое 100-дневный проект и для чего он нужен? Начало было положено в 2008 году американскими художницами Луизой Баокалоу и Энн Русс. С 2014 году челлендж проводится ежегодно и со временем достиг мировых маштабов. Идея проста: выбирайте творческий проект и посвещайте ему не менее 15 минут в день в течении 100 дней.

La mostra “il cibo nell’arte” a Pianezza (TO) propone Diversamente acquerello a tavola.

La frutta dipinta con la frutta. Nasce così la serie delle nature morte realizzate per Zuegg Italia nel 2016. I frutti di bosco, arance, lamponi, more e ribes dipinti con succo di melograno, agrumi, frutti rossi e mirtilli.

A tavola e su carta

Macchia, quindi colora. Così si può riassumere il concept del progetto Diversamente acquerello. Nato come una ricerca sui pigmenti naturali è diventato una sperimentazione sui pigmenti non tradizionali, per lo più commetibili.

Iniziai con i succhi di frutta, i più tradizionali dei coloranti, poi provai caffè, salsa di soya e persino cioccolato. Tutti loro si rivelarono degli ottimi pigmenti da “acquerello” o da “disegno”.
Il progetto fu esposto per la prima volta a Paratissima 2016 a Torino con i ritratti dipinti con caffè, succo di mirtilli e salsa di soya.

Tutti i frutti.. e non solo

La famiglia del Diversamente acquerello è numerosa e comprende “dolce” e “salato”. Dalla salsa di soya al cioccolato molti coloranti naturali hanno già trovato posto nella mia tavolozza e tanti ancora si aggiungeranno. Sfoglia qui tutti i diversamente acquerelli:

The exhibition “Food in art” in Pianezza (Italy) brought back the Waterolor different fruit with fruit series.

These are the first artworks of the project made for Zuegg Italy social networks in 2016. All the watercolors are painted with fruit juice.

More than food

The project was born from the research of natural colour pigments. Since ancient times people used plants and minerals to get colours for fabrics and art.

I started with fruit juice, the most obvious of natural colours. Than I tried coffee, soya sauce, wine and chocolate too. All of them were the excellent watercolors or pastels. The first show took place during Paratissima 2016 in Torino (Italy).

Album Inktober rosso 2023

Album Inktober rosso 2023 comincia così: prendiamo lo sketchbook di inktober 2022, rovesciamolo e ricominciamo dalla copertina opposta. Una nuova lista, 31 giorni, 31 parole. E’ il mio sesto challenge. Viviamolo insieme!

In principio era la lista

Dal 2016 circa la lista ufficiale di Inktober viene pubblicata il 1 settembre di ogni anno. E’ composta da 31 parole ed è tradotta in diverse lingue. Qui le versioni della lista nelle lingue che parlo.

Cover experience

E’ vero che non bisogna giudicare il libro dalla copertina, ma questa facciata volava essere una dichiarazione degli intenti. L’illustrazione è stata eseguita con i mezzi che ho scelto quest’anno: le penne classiche con pennino in metallo e penne antiche a cartuccia con inchiostro nero, penna a sfera blu per disegno di base ed Uniposca ad acrilico bianco per le luci. In alcuni illustrazioni viene utilizzato inchiostro colorato per sottolineare dei dettagli.

Album Inktober rosso 2023. Lavoro ad una illustrazione dall’idea alla versione finale attraverso lo studio della composizione, disegno propedeutico con penna a sfera e riempimento con inchiostro.

Negli episodi precedenti…

Il nome nasce dalla crasi delle parole inglesi ink + October, e infatti si svolge a ottobre e consiste nel fare un disegno in inchiostro al giorno per un totale di 31 disegni. L’iniziativa è nata nel 2009 come sfida individuale dell’illustratore americano Jake Parker che voleva fare pratica con la tecnica dell’inchiostro e sviluppare l’abitudine di disegnare tutti i giorni. Inktober è diventato una challenge a livello mondiale con una crescente partecipazione anche in Italia. Dal 2016 circa viene pubblicata la lista ufficiale con 31 parole selezionate da Jake Parker.

Il mio primo Inktober risale al 2018. Ecco alcuni frammenti degli sketchbook realizzati nei 5 anni precedenti.

Inktober is a monthlong art challenge started by Jake Parker, one of the founders of SVSLearn. September 1st of each year Inktober prompts are posted. Artsts can also use their own lists.

Previously on Inktober…

In 2009, Jake Parker , American comics creator, concept artist, illustrator, and animator, started Inktober. The announcement was made on his blog. Parker originally started the challenge to motivate himself to improve his own inking skills. Since 2016, he posted a list of “prompts” for each day’s artwork. Artists are also known to plot out series of drawings on the same theme as part of the celebration. Participants have approached the challenge as an opportunity to practice and share their art, drawing in various art styles, and using a variety of media (the challenge originally was made only in fountain pen) . In October 2015, over 1 million Inktober drawings were posted on Instagram. I am in since 2018.
