“How did I end up here?” I was wondering in a moment of pure desperation. In that rainy day in Turin, I realized that I couldn’t go to Venice to the most important exhibition of the year. I had given up Paratissima art fair in Turin to attend Venice sketching collective 2024, but everything took an unexpected turn.
A Series of Unfortunate Events
In May, I applied for two categories of the collective with the pages from the sketchbook still in progress. I was selected for both. My artworks would be exposed two rooms: “Seaports” and “Main category”.
I decided to go to Venice to meet the public, critics, and fellow artists, giving up any other art project scheduled at the same time. For once, I wanted to do things “right”.
The 14th edition of the collective exhibition “Matite in Viaggio 2024” (from Italian “travelling pencils”) took place from October 25 to November 10. As per tradition, it was hosted in the exhibition halls on the third floor of the Candiani Cultural Center (P.le Luigi Candiani, 7 Venice Mestre).

Due to last minute problems, I couldn’t attend the opening on 26 October, nor could I make it the following weekend, and the one after that.
Friends in art
My colleague and friend from Moscow (Russia), Julia Bolshakova, also couldn’t come to Venice for due to the international situation. To send her works to Venice became very tricky! As because the war in Ukraine no courier could send the sketches from Russia to Italy, I took care of printing copies and sending them.
Thanks to social media and the photos shared by artist friends, I was able to see the collective and have a sort of virtual visit.
I have already a plan for 2025: I will go to Venice whatever it takes!
Guess, what was my subject this year! Inktober 2024 was cats and ink only. This is how Inktober became Cattober. The Cat-tree has also find space and time to bloom. But let’s see it step by step.
I used for this challenge a mini sketchbook 4.5×6.5 cm of 50 pages with a cover in grey cardboard.
What is Inktober?
Inktober is the international art challenge that connects a lot of illustrators around the world. 31 days, 31 prompts, paper and ink. These are the official prompts of 2024:
Jake Parker, the concept illustrator of cartoons “Rio”, “Ice age” etc, created Inktober in 2009 as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavour with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year. Any artist can use the own prompt list instead of the “official” one.
Out of prompts
No comments, just illustrations. These are the subject off topic of Inktober but regarding cats. Scroll with me all bonus illustrations for prompts and out of topic.
Cat-tree is back
It was impossble not to draw at least one cat-slower among cat illustrations.
No filter
Scroll with me all the illustrations for 31 prompts. The prompts are 31, but the illustrations are much more. Not every subject corresponded to my idea in the first version, so I created the other illustrations until I liked or somehow accepted it.
Which is your favourite one?

Yulia A. Korneva Withdraws from Paratissima 2024 for a Project in Venice
Turin, 10/10/2024 – With great respect for the public and the organizers, artist Yulia A. Korneva announces her decision not to participate in the 20th edition of Paratissima Torino. This decision is due to the overlap of the event with an exhibition project in Venice.
The group exhibition “Matite in viaggio” will take place from October 25 to November 10, 2024, at the Candiani Cultural Center. More information will soon be revealed on the artist’s website and social media channels.
The exhibition reflects the artist’s research in a more experimental key, exploring new visual and conceptual territories.
Expressing her gratitude to the Paratissima team for their continuous support, Yulia A. Korneva hopes to return to the event in future editions and extends an invitation to her collectors and admirers to follow her in her next artistic venture in Venice-Mestre.
You will return to being kids for a day, playing with colors, shapes, and constructions… to create your the vision company in various unusual forms. This is what Creative Team Building is.
Creating an artworkmeans giving a visible form to a concept, then experiencing the result of your work firsthand while discussing and having fun with your teammates. It’s incredible how even the least “poetic” people can be creative when placed in the right stimulating environment!
Why do you need Team Building?
A cohesive team works more efficiently. Team-building activities help identify and solve communication and collaboration issues that slow down daily work. Team-building reinforces trust and relationships, both among employees and with supervisors. An increase in mutual trust boosts motivation to achieve company goals. Employees who feel appreciated are more likely to be satisfied with their jobs and to engage actively in company activities.
Why Creative Team Building?
A great way to embody and promote your company’s values is by realizing them in an artwork like a painting, pixel art, or a sculpture made from recycled materials. Creativity and imagination come together with other important aspects like teamwork, communication, collaboration, and especially group motivation. Art is a natural stress reliever. When we focus on an artistic task, we use parts of our brain that often go unused during a normal workday. This allows the more active parts of the brain to rest. So after the art activity, we return to work more relaxed and with renewed energy.
Creative team-building activities enhance group dynamics within the company. In a creative and informal setting people naturally learn more about their colleagues, discovering strengths and areas for improvement, thus fostering greater synergy within the team, which then carries over to the workplace. Artistic or creative team-building activities encourage individuals to take risks and experiment: at worst, they might make a mess! Encouraging thinking outside the box and exploring new ideas, shapes, colors, and forms can lead to more innovative solutions and the incorporation of diverse perspectives.
So team building with brushes, spatulas, and spray paint promotes an environment of positivity, improves collaboration among members of the team, leads to effective communication, increases mutual trust, and creates a sense of belonging. All this transforms into higher productivity, stronger team identity, employee satisfaction, and achieving company goals!
What can I do for your team?
These experiential and creative formats can easily guide the team members to understand company values and culture, promoting key elements for your team’s success. Art workshops where team members can explore various art forms, from traditional ones like painting, sculpture, and drawing to more innovative approaches like spray painting, murals and graffiti. These workshops foster creativity, collaboration, and communication among participants, who find themselves doing something far removed from their daily routine but soon discover it to be incredibly enjoyable!
Collective artwork. The team will be asked to collaborate on creating a collective piece of art. For example, they could paint a mural, create a sculpture, or a painting. This encourages teamwork, negotiation, and the ability to work together for a common goal… and in the end, the artwork can be displayed in the office! It becomes a source of pride, fun, and conversation for a long, long time! Sculpture building with unusual or recycled materials. Each group can use the provided recycled materials (or even bring them from home) to create a unique sculpture. This activity stimulates creativity, unconventional thinking, and raises awareness about transforming waste into art!
Finger and hand painting. Want to get a little messier? Dipping hands into paint is like diving into your inner child… We can organize a painting session where participants use only their fingers and hands instead of brushes. This activity encourages playfulness, spontaneity, and the liberation of artistic expression. Sensory exploration. Organize an artistic experience that involves the senses. For example, we could arrange a blind painting session where participants rely solely on touch and hearing to create their artworks. This activity stimulates sensory awareness, intuition, and the exploration of hidden artistic potential.
How do I do it?
Behind the art, fun, and informality there is plenty of preparation and planning. Team-building activities are based on emotional intelligence, psychology, and art therapy combined with my experience in project management and teaching art for adults and children.
Will it get messy? I believe it can be a great experience, but I also take all necessary precautions to prevent it! Ready to build your team-building experience together? Fill out this form!

The sketchbook tells the moments and emotions of the opening ceremony of the 33rd Summer Olympic Games in the French capital through images.
Some pages of Olimpic sketchbook
Work in progress
In many ways a “plein air” in front of the TV is quite tricky. The framing is decided by the live broadcast, the time is limited and, aspecially, there is no possibility to stop and study how the subject is or simply to breath.
Work in progress on olimpic sketchbook
An important part of the ceremony took place after the sunset. The night sketching is rather challenging. Despite this, the fundamental steps of live sketching remain the same: observation, basic line sketch, tonal line, and colors or shadows. If you are very tired, you can make the steps 2 and 3 the day after. They are a sort of post-production in skethching.
Step by step
Basic line sketch. The most difficult part is to catch the essential lines and proportions of the subject and put them on paper.
Tonal drawing. The morning after. Watch here the sketches before and after i added the tonal lines:
Colours. The evening of the day after. If you do not like colours it’s anough to add shadows. this is the almost final version of the olimpic sketchbook.
Well, probabily I am still in time to add some lights and shadows.

Summer smells of sun and freedom, even when, like this year, it struggles to arrive. The Art2Wear linen apparel collection is inspired by the mood of picnic, outdoor, rural landscapes and golden sunshine.
As usual, I tried to keep the uniqueness of the natural fabrics used by tailoring them into simple, essential, and versatile forms. Discover here all the styles.
I inherited this pure linen fabric from my grandmother. It was produced in the Soviet Union in Kostroma, the homeland of linen. The white trimming, made of 100% cotton, comes from a production carried out in the 90s in Russia.

What is the 100 day project?
#The100DayProject is a free, global art project that takes place online. Every year, thousands of people all around the world commit to 100 days of creating. Anyone can participate.
The idea is simple: choose a creative project, do it every single day for 100 days, and share your process on your social accounts using the hashtag #The100DayProject. In 2024 The 100 Day Project started 18th February.
Headline of the 100 day project 2024
The seeds of The100DayProject began in 2008 at an artist retreat near Traverse City, Michigan. The 5-day retreat was co-lead by artists Louisa Barkalow and Ann Russ. Participants were invited to hang a simple piece of artwork they made each day on a piece of twine strung across a doorway at the retreat house. The purpose of this simple, warm-up exercise was to get the creative juices flowing.
In 2012, Ann Russ approached Tiina Harris, Director of the Marquette Arts & Culture Center (MACC) about having a 100 day project exhibit at the gallery there. In October 2013, an exhibit “The100DayProject: The Art of Practice and the Practice of Art” was installed in the MACC gallery and generated significant interest.
Since January 2014, 100 day projects have launched annually. Ann continues to support it as volunteer co-organizer. The 100DayProject has since spread beyond its Midwest roots and is now a global phenomenon.

One week 100 people was the first occasion to use the new media in the sketching. The 100 people of this year are inspired to Japanese ink painting sumi-e. I tried to keep only the essential parts of every portrait.

Despite complicated internal situation I was back home to Moscow to sketch my native city. So it became Moscow urban sketching tour of 4-16 April when I tried to use the sumi-e srokes for city skethes.

These are the first artworks of the project made for Zuegg Italy social networks in 2016. All the watercolors are painted with fruit juice.
More than food
The project was born from the research of natural colour pigments. Since ancient times people used plants and minerals to get colours for fabrics and art.
I started with fruit juice, the most obvious of natural colours. Than I tried coffee, soya sauce, wine and chocolate too. All of them were the excellent watercolors or pastels. The first show took place during Paratissima 2016 in Torino (Italy).
